RIM Renames BBX to BlackBerry 10

by HEMANTH KUMAR on December 8, 2011

Smart Phone maker Research In Motion (RIM) renamed its next generation mobile OS as BlackBerry 10 from BBX after losing in the court against Basis International, which is the owner of the brand name BBX. RIM decided to name its new OS as BBX, because its a combined OS of BlackBerry OS and QNX OS, which RIM bought to make tablets “Playbook”.

RIM is losing the smart phone market, failed with “Playbook” tablets, and failed to name the new OS without any troubles. Its common sense in the business world to check whether any body owns the brand name which we decide to use, before announcing publicly. RIM was a market leader, but not any more.
