How and Why Google named next version of Android as KitKat?

by HEMANTH KUMAR on September 4, 2013

We all been hearing since long back that next version of Android will be called Key Lime Pie. But suddenly Google changed its name to KitKat, from desserts to chocolate? We all know that Nestle Kit Kat  is one of the favorite chocolate bar for many of us, hence many people heard of it and tasted it. As Kit Kat is popular, Google adopted it? No. First Android engineering head Hiroshi Lockheimer is a great fan to Kit Kat chocolate bar. And if you can observe the naming of previous versions of Android OS, Cupcake (1.5), Donut (1.6), Eclair (2.0), Froyo (2.2), Gingerbread (2.3), Honeycomb (3.0), Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0), Jelly Bean (4.1-4.3) and next one has to start with K. Key Lime Pie is suitable, But Google thought many people doesn’t know the taste of Key Lime Pie and hence looked for an alternative and named KitKat (4.4).
