Next version of Android is KitKat

by HEMANTH KUMAR on September 4, 2013

The Next version of Google mobile OS Android is named as KitKat, and not Key Lime Pie as we thought. Yes, it’s named after our favorite chocolate bars KitKat by Nestle. Google licensed “KitKat” from Nestle to name its mobile OS.

Android 4.4 KitKat

It’s our goal with Android KitKat to make an amazing Android experience available for everybody.

The KitKat name was decided in February of this year, but undisclosed even to internal employees of Google, and internally called Key Lime Pie as we know. There is no money transferred in the deal. 50 million KitKat bars will be sold in around 19 countries that will have Android branding which also offers Google Play gift cards and a chance to win Nexus 7 tablets. We can see 500 specially designed KitKat bars in the shape of Android logo. Up to version 4.3 Android OS was named after variety of desserts and now the up coming version is named after a chocolate.
